About the tour

Depar­ture to “Las Ter­razas” Bios­phere Reserve, locat­ed in the “Sier­ra del Rosario” moun­tains, 60 km away from Havana. We will vis­it a com­mu­ni­ty project of self-sus­tain­ing devel­op­ment that was found­ed in 1971, explore the Bue­nav­ista cof­fee plan­ta­tion in the area and have time at leisure to admire the local flo­ra and fau­na. Vis­it to the House of Polo Mon­tañez, a renowned Cuban singer and com­pos­er. After the tour you will enjoy Cuban lunch in a local restau­rant and have time at leisure for bathing in the San Juan Riv­er. In the after­noon, return to Havana.

A rur­al com­mu­ni­ty of sus­tain­able devel­op­ment and nature reserve in Artemisa Province. It is locat­ed in Sier­ra del Rosario, des­ig­nat­ed a Bios­phere Reserve by UNESCO in 1985.

Flo­ra and Fau­na: Vis­i­tors can see the small orchid ble­tia pur­purea in the area, con­sid­ered a sym­bol of the region and among the birds, the Tocoro­ro (the nation­al bird) and Car­tacu­ba. Amphib­ians are also rep­re­sent­ed, with a small frog Eleutero­dac­tilus lim­bat­us just 9 mm big.
